Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Enfield
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Man and a Van Enfield in recognition of our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery does not take place.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Man and a Van Enfield provides local and regional transport, removals, and associated support services. Our operations rely on a combination of in-house staff, subcontracted drivers and operatives, vehicle hire and maintenance partners, fuel suppliers, equipment providers, and other service suppliers. We recognise that risks of modern slavery can arise at various stages within these supply chains, especially where temporary labour, subcontracting, or outsourced services are involved.
Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear and firm zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, child labour, or exploitation is strictly prohibited. We expect the same high standards from all of our contractors, suppliers, and other business partners. We will not knowingly engage with any party that is involved in or fails to take adequate steps to prevent modern slavery within its operations.
All staff, including permanent, temporary, agency, and subcontracted workers, are to be treated with dignity and respect. Employment must always be freely chosen, and workers must be free to leave their employment after reasonable notice without penalty or threat.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to ongoing due diligence in relation to our suppliers and subcontractors. As part of our process for approving and reviewing suppliers, we assess their labour practices, working conditions, and alignment with our modern slavery standards. We aim to work with suppliers who can demonstrate robust policies and procedures to prevent modern slavery.
Where appropriate and proportionate to the level of risk identified, we may carry out audits of selected suppliers. These audits may include site visits, document reviews, and discussions with management and workers. If a supplier is found to be in breach of our requirements, we will take corrective action which may include remediation plans, suspension of work, or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
Man and a Van Enfield encourages all employees, workers, contractors, and stakeholders to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may include suspected exploitation, coercion, unreasonable deductions, retention of identity documents, or unsafe or degrading working conditions.
Reports may be raised through internal management channels or via recognised whistleblowing mechanisms made available within the company. We will treat all concerns seriously and, where possible, confidentially. No individual raising a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment for speaking up.
Training and Awareness
We work to ensure that key members of staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, subcontracting, and supplier management, are aware of the risks of modern slavery and how to identify potential warning signs. Training and guidance may include recognising indicators of exploitation, understanding our reporting procedures, and knowing how to respond when a concern is raised.
Monitoring, Review, and Continuous Improvement
We are committed to reviewing and improving our approach to tackling modern slavery. This Modern Slavery Statement, along with our supporting procedures, will be reviewed annually by senior management to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with current legislation and good practice.
The annual review will consider changes in our operations, updates in regulatory requirements, feedback from staff and suppliers, outcomes of any audits or investigations, and any reported concerns. Where necessary, we will update our policies, strengthen controls, and enhance training to minimise the risk of modern slavery within our business and supply chains.
This Modern Slavery Statement reflects the ongoing commitment of Man and a Van Enfield to uphold human rights and to play our part in eliminating modern slavery in all its forms.
